Vivien Mackie is a master Alexander Technique teacher and a cellist who studied with Pablo Casals. Her teaching respects and nurtures the dynamic quality of music making, increasing its scope and expressiveness. By guiding the musician with her hands while they play she can allow them to experience how to refine and release their musical impulses and intentions, releasing talent.  She calls this “poise in the eye of the storm.” She goes on to say “without the storm” of the music “there can be no poise.” 

Vivien is our senior mentor and adviser for Artist in Balance. She is a frequent guest teacher at Artist in Balance workshops.
